NEW DELHI/RAIPUR/BHUBANESWAR: Now, it is not all well in Indian judiciary. The arrest of a retired justice Ishrat Masroor Quddusi has asked a million questions about the sanctity and sacredness of Indian Judiciary. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested six persons, including a retired judge who has worked as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and Judge of Odisha high Court, for enabling private medical colleges to admit students to MBBS courses despite a Supreme Court order barring them from doing so.
The agency placed under arrest a retired high court justice Ishrat Masroor Quddusi, a middleman Biswanath Agrawala, owners of private medical college – BP Yadav and Palash Yadav, and a hawala operator Ram Dev Saraswat in connection with the case. Later in the day it also arrested one Bhawna Pandey. The agency had earlier booked them under charges of criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act.
Headlines Everyday brings a sting operation by Whistleblower Majon Jain, who caught Ishrat Masroor Quddusi and Bhawana Pandey on camera.
The sting exposes how Justice I M Quddusi, the then Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court, makes fixing the judgments in a public interest litigation. Bhawana Pandey, who was also arrested by CBI, was acting as his mediator in all judicial fixing. Earlier, she was also caught by CBI in another corruption case too. ‘Currently the couple was engaged in selling judgments from Supreme Court and High Courts in India for high profile clients’, Manoj Jain alleged.
