ECI’s direction brings more trouble to BJD over Raveena Tondon

NEW DELHI: Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed today Election Returning Officer in Odisha’s Anandpur BJD MLA constituency over payment made to Raveena Tondon and submission of false election expenditure.

Acting upon a complaint, the highest election authority of India has taken cognizance of the matter that Bollywood actress Raveena Tondon and Anandpur MLA Jena illegally manipulated the election result. Biju Janata Dal MLA Mayadhar Jena suppressed in abstract statement of election expenditure and concealed the actual and correct information. He also tried to mislead the ECI and the public in general. He has not submitted information in the manner as it is prescribed by the Election Commission of India.

MLA Jena is accused of concealment of election account expenditure is amount to violation of section 77  and 78 of RP Act, which attracts 10A of RP Act, which prescribe disqualification of elected post’.

ECI has also sought interim action taken report from the concerned authorities.
