Nat’l flag row: Indian law maker procures an undated letter from Pak contractor

ISLAMABAD/BHUBANESWAR: Amidst the highly raised controversy over insulting the Indian flag at SAARC Young parliamentarians’ conference at Islamabad, an Indian law maker procured an undated letter from contractor favouring his role for correcting the India’s national flag hoisting.

BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Sing Deo spoke on the occasion while the Indian flag was upside down, which is amount to a crime as per Indian law. He also posted the several photos of event dishonouring Indian national flag and distributed the same in social media.

Odisha police registered a complaint against BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo and two other MPs for insulting national flag. The other two MPs are Devji  Bhai Patel from BJP and Alok Tiwari from Samajwadi Party.

In the meanwhile, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo posted an undated letter from a PAK contractor, who certified Kalikesh that upon his request, the flag was hoisted correctly.

The contractor of an event management company, identified as Kingly Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, was approached by an Indian law maker. ‘He was invited to ‘the suit’ where Kalikesh was staying. The letter was procured from the contractor for his defence as the PAK government (host) agency refused to do so’, a participant told Headlines Everyday.

As on today, no officials from Pak made any comment on the issue.

Source said, it is not only the case that while Indian law maker presentation the flag was upside down, it was also when other speakers were speaking. When matter raised by Indian media Headlines Everyday just before the final session, the flag was corrected.

BJD MP Kalikesh Singhdeo, who is in the line of fire for remaining silent over the issue, on Friday had tweeted that Pakistan has apologized for the mistake.

One of the participant in condition with anonymity said, ‘a letter was procured by Indian law maker hurriedly from a manager of an event management company”. He added,’ the letter was printed in the conference place, not from the office, thus no reference number for the letter was given’.

When contacted by Headlines Everyday, the a senior officer of Pak host organisation Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) with condition of anonymity said, we have not made any apology, and we are not authorised to do so.

He also posted the apology letter of Kingly Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, which was awarded the contract for designing and decoration of the stage for the inaugural session of the Saarc Young Parliamentarians Conference held on August 16-17 at Islamabad.

“It was an inadvertent mistake and was immediately rectified after being pointed out by Mr. Kalikesh N. Singh Deo, Member of Lok Sabha, India. The flag was correctly published on backdrops, standees, folders and conference bags,” read the letter.

I apologize for the unintentional mistake and ensure that it will never happen in future, – said M. Junaid Iqbal, Marketing Manager of Kingly Solutions (Pvt) Ltd, in his undated letter which was posted by BJD MP Kalikesh. Odisha police has registered against Kalikesh and other two Indian MPs for insulting the national flag.

The two day first SAARC Young Parliamentarians Conference was jointly organized by National Assembly of Pakistan and Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS).

The conference was inaugurated by Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Around 28 Parliamentary delegates from the SAARC member countries have participated in the conference along with four international Experts.

Headlines Everyday made several attempt to contact Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo and Kingly Solutions, but there were no replies.
